The ’Art Evening with Derek Boshier’ forum at which visitors had a chance to get acquainted with the work of this British pop-art artist, was held in the Svilara Cultural Station on 21 October.
Along with the artist himself, Parisian gallerist Alain Matarasso and publisher Nebojša Bošnjak spoke about the work of the British painter, sculptor, photographer and graphic artist, known for experimenting with various media such as photography, film, collage, book, etc.
Boshier discussed his works with the audience, insisting on the social context that enriched his specific artistic expression and emphasizing his interest in current topics, such as the space race, political events and the Americanization of Europe.
It is interesting that this pop artist, in the late seventies, had the opportunity to collaborate with the famous punk group ‘The Clash’, and especially interesting for the audience were the stories of long-term friendship with the famous David Bowie, with whom he worked on album covers. ‘Lodger’ and LP ‘Let’s Dance’.
His works are exhibited in the world’s most important museums and galleries, and you can expect his retrospective exhibition at the Museum of the City of Novi Sad during 2022, when Novi Sad will hold the title of European Capital of Culture.
