Emilija Gašić: From | Within


The ‘From | Within’ analogue photography exhibition by film and photography director Emilija Gašić will be opened in the Svilara social centre on Wednesday, 7 July. The opening of the exhibition will be held at 6 p.m., while the audience will have an opportunity to see Emilija’s works until 15 July, in the period from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Take a glimpse at the undirected journeys of visual artist Emilija Gašić on the Vrnjačka Banja – Belgrade – New York route and visits to some other cities, through the collection of analogue photographs that have been made in the last ten years on the route between different stations, cities, countries, during walks or metro rides.

Her short films won numerous awards and were presented at world festivals. Her short film ‘The Wait’, premiered at the 66th Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival, won numerous awards in Serbia, Japan, and Indonesia, and the film was shown at the festival that qualifies applicants for the Academy Award – Kisa Film Festival in Izmir.

In addition to Serbia and the United States of America, Emilija directed films in France, Norway, and Czech Republic. She is a winner of the ‘Nikon Storytellers’ award and is nominated for the prestigious Volker Bahnemann Award for incredible achievements in film photography.

The ‘Out of Order’, her latest achievement in cinematography, directed by Brandon and Cameron Laventure, won an award at the Workers Unite Film Festival.
