The ‘Rhythm of the City, Streets and Faces’ exhibition of photographs by Marija Jovanović Beljanski will be opened on Friday, 28 May, at 7 p.m. in the Svilara Cultural Station.
The audience will have a chance to see Marija’s travelogues from Marrakesh, New York, Novi Sad, Belgrade, Rome and Lisbon. All photos were taken by phone.
The exhibition will be available to the public until 6 June on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Marija Jovanović Beljanski has been engaged in photography out of love since she was 14, when she developed and made photographs in her room at Konjarnik in Belgrade. Her father Stevan, who then, seeing and recognizing the talent in her, gave her the famous UPA 5 photo camera with an electric dryer, instilled that great and everlasting love in her.
Afterwards, the love for black and white photography emerged in the XII Belgrade Grammar School, where Marija had photography and film as her main subjects.
After graduation, however, she decided to enrol at the Faculty of Philology because she dreamed as a child of being an Italian language teacher. She has lived in Novi Sad since 1999. Today, she teaches Italian in the Karlovci Grammar School, but she never forgot her first love. Fortunately for us.
